Feb 3 Social National Paddling Film Festival FB Drumroll..............We are stoked to announce Katrina Van Wijk as our 2017 NPFF guest host! Katrina is a 3rd generation whitewater kayaker with her family legacy streaming back to Hermann Kerkchoff, a renowned slalom paddler who competed at the 1972 Munich Olympics. Her parents, Claudia and Dirk Van Wijk, both took up the sport and were internationally ranked athletes. They ultimately took over Canada’s first whitewater kayak school, Madawaska Kanu Centre, from Claudia’s parents so Katrina was essentially born with a paddle in her hands. Raised on the Ottawa River, Katrina fell in love with kayaking at an early age. She dedicated her early life to the sport and broke many barriers—she was the first female to compete in the North Fork Championships on the Payette River in Idaho. Katrina came in first at the Green Race in 2013 and the Little White Salmon Race in 2014. She's also a filmmaker and has submitted numerous films to NPFF over the years. Katrina recently ...
